An invitation suite typically consists of a main invitation card, a reply card, an outer envelope, and a reply card envelope. There are different pieces you can add, like a details card, accommodations card, map, and more, to make your suite uniquely yours.
For custom invitations I recommend reaching out
no less than before your wedding date. This makes sure I have the time in our calendar to accommodate you. If the date is out of that timeframe, please don’t hesitate to reach out and check with us! I may be able to accommodate your schedule. I also only accept 3 clients per wedding date, so asking early is always best!

My biggest tip is to take one fully assembled suite to the post office you’ll be sending the invitations from and ask them to weigh the suite to determine the postage amount needed before mailing. Keep in mind, adding details like wax seals, ribbon, etc. will increase the weight and thickness, also increasing the cost to mail. To see more tips, check out our mailing tips guide here!
Postage will always vary depending on the details added to your suite. Postage is based on size, weight, and thickness, and a suite can usually weigh between 2 and 4 ounces. When budgeting, we recommend estimating $1.00-$2.00/suite.
Save the dates can be sent as early as you’d like, but I recommend around 8-12 months before your wedding date. For your invitations, I suggest sending them around 8-10 weeks before your wedding date, with guest RSVPs due to you 3-4 weeks before the wedding. Although the post office can move a little slowly, you don't want to send them too early that your guests forget about them! While I wish we could hand deliver each suite for you, Well Penned Designs is not liable for any issues resulting from the post office.
I currently offer digital and letterpress printing.
Digital printing is the standard style of printing where a flat digital image is printed directly on to paper. This is the least expensive option and is a great choice for designs with lots of color.
Letterpress printing creates a plate with your design that is raised. It is then inked and impressed into the paper. It's a little more expensive than digital, but it creates a pillowy impression on the paper that feels classy and luxurious. Letterpress can be combined with digital.
If you have other preferred print methods, let us know! We're always happy to accommodate your design preferences!
For custom invitations, yes, I require a consultation before presenting you with a quote. I do this for a few reasons.
1. I LOVE meeting you! I love to see you in person (or virtually) and get to put a face with the name, and you get to do the same.
2. I want to make sure we get the right info from you so we can provide you with the most accurate quote possible.
3. The consultation gives you a chance to actually sit with all of the stationery I've worked on so you can see what you like best, and you get to ask all of your questions.
You should order one invitation or save-the-date per household, NOT per guest! Oftentimes, people forget this and accidentally order one for each guest, leaving them with a stack of invites left over. Before quoting, I’ll always confirm how many you’re planning on sending to avoid ordering too many extras!
OF COURSE!! Your invitations are a wonderful way to remember the best day of your life, so I put together a suite with a keepsake box so you can hold on to your invitation suite for years to come!
Not currently. We will have some sample packs available in The Wedding Shop soon, showcasing our TWS suites, paper, and printing styles.
If time allows, yes! Printed proofs can be requested before the final revision round once everything has been approved. Printed proofs for letterpress are not available, but I can provide a digitally printed sample. The charge for the cost of shipping of the proof will be added to your final invoice.
All custom invitation orders come with our white glove assembly service, giving you peace of mind that every invitation is assembled with the utmost care and attention to detail. Please note, it is your responsibility to pay for or provide any postage required for reply envelopes. Postage being adhered to the main envelope is not provided, and they will be sent back to you for postage and mailing. Well Penned Designs is not liable for any damage, delay, or problem that may arise during the mailing process.
